Diamond is crystalline carbon. Carbon exists in several solid allotropic modifications, i.e. in various forms with different physical properties. Diamond is the hardest substance in the world. In the periodic table, it has a serial number – 6. Another allotropic modification of carbon is graphite. Graphite is one of the softest substances. At the same time, the chemical activity of graphite is greater than that of diamond.
