The ball, thrown from the balcony in a horizontal direction at a speed of 10 m / s, fell to the ground at an angle of 30 to the horizon. How high did he fall?

Neglecting the air resistance, we find that the vertical movement of the ball is uniformly accelerated, with an acceleration g = 9.8 m / s2 directed vertically downward, and horizontally – uniform. This means that at the moment the ball falls, the horizontal component of the velocity is:

Vx = V0 = 10 m / s.

The vertical component of the velocity: Vz = Vx × tg (α) = 10 × tg (30o) = 5.774 m / s.

On the other hand, Vz = g t, where t is the time the ball falls, s; t = 5.774 / 9.8 = 0.589 s,

Height H:

H = g t ^ 2/2 = 9.8 × 0.5892 / 2 = 1.70 m.
