The base of a straight triangular prism is a right-angled triangle with legs of 3 cm and 4 cm

The base of a straight triangular prism is a right-angled triangle with legs of 3 cm and 4 cm, the height of the prism is 10 cm. Find the side surface of the prism.

According to the Pythagorean theorem, the sum of the squares of the legs is equal to the square of the hypotenuse, therefore, knowing the lengths of the legs of a right triangle, we can find its hypotenuse:

c ^ 2 = a ^ 2 + b ^ 2 = 3 ^ 2 + 4 ^ 2 = 9 + 16 = 25 = 52;

c = 5 cm.

The side surface of a straight prism can be found as the product of the perimeter of the base of the prism by its height. By condition, the height of the prism h is 10 cm. Base perimeter:

P = 3 + 4 + 5 = 12 cm.

Sside = P * h = 12 * 10 = 120 cm2.
