The base of the trapezoid is 14, the height is 12, and the area of the trapezoid is 144. Find the second side of the base.

| The area of the trapezoid is equal to the product of the height of the trapezoid h by half the sum of the lengths of the bases of the trapezoid a and b:
S = h * (a + b) / 2.
From here we can find the sum of the lengths of the bases:
a + b = 2 * S / h = 2 * 144/12 = 24.
Knowing that one of the bases of this trapezoid is 14, we find the unknown base:
a = 24 – b = 24 – 14 = 10.
