The biological role of ribose and deoxyribose

Ribose and deoxyribose are the building blocks that form DNA and RNA. DNA contains all the genetic information. These are the structures of all proteins that the body needs. Without this information, protein synthesis is impossible. RNA is required directly for the very “assembly” of proteins. There are three types of RNA. The ribosomes that make proteins are composed of rRNA. Information for the synthesis of protein ribosomes are obtained using mRNA. Amino acids are delivered to ribosomes using tRNA. The process of protein synthesis is called translation.
