The boat travels the distance between A and B and back in 3 hours. The boat’s own speed is 18 km / h, the current speed is 2 km / h. Find the distance between points A and B.

Let’s designate the distance between points A and B for x kilometers.
Let us write down what are the speeds of the boat upstream and downstream, if the proper speed and the speed of the river flow are known:
18 + 2 = 20 (km / h) – downstream speed;
18 – 2 = 16 (km / h) – speed against.
According to the condition of the problem, it is said that the distance between these points there and back is covered by the boat in three hours. We get the following equation:
x / 20 + x / 16 = 3
4x + 5x = 240
9x = 240
x = 26.66666 ~ 26.67.
The answer turned out not quite nice, maybe there is a typo in the condition.
Answer: the distance between points is 26.67 kilometers.
