3). The speed of the boat against the current is (20 – x) km. in hour.

4). The distance that the boat sailed downstream is 4 * (20 + x) = 80 + 4x;

5) The distance that the boat sailed against the current is 6 * (20 – x) = 120 – 6x;

6). Let’s compose and solve the equation.

(80 + 4x) + (120 – 6x) = 196;

80 + 4x + 120 – 6x = 196;

80 +120 – 196 = 6x -4x;
