The Byzantine Empire played a role in the life of the Eastern Slavs.

Byzantium played a significant role in the life of the Eastern Slavs. Before the baptism of Russia, relations were reduced to military actions against each other and to trade relations in a small volume. The baptism of Rus put an end to the wars. Thanks to the adoption of the Byzantine version of Christianity, Prince Vladimir took a Byzantine princess as his wife and became related to the Byzantine rulers. Russia was recognized by the developed states. Thanks to a single faith, it was possible to unite the Slavic tribes into a centralized state. Science and education came from Byzantium. Monasteries were built in Russia, which became “oases” of science and education, because in them monks translated Byzantine texts and wrote their own. Trade between states grew.
