The car, being at a distance of 50 m from the traffic light and having at that moment a speed of 36 km / h, began to brake. Determine the position of the car relative to the traffic light in 4 s from the start of braking if it was moving with an acceleration of 2 m / s2.

Given:
L = 50m,
v = 36km / h = 10m / s,
t = 4s,
a = 2m / s ^ 2;

With uniformly accelerated motion, the distance traveled can be determined from the equation:
s = v * t – (a * t ^ 2) / 2
The second term with a minus sign, because the car is braking;
s = 10 * 4 – 2 * 16/2 = 40m – 16m = 24m;
