The components that make up cambium.

Cambium is a ball of cells that is responsible for cell division, and therefore for plant growth. The cambium of the plant is located between the wood and the bast. There are two types of cambium: vascular and cortical. Xylem (cells on the inside) and phloem (cells on the outside) are formed from the vascular cambium. A strip of thin-walled cells forms between them, through which gases and nutrients penetrate into the plant. The cortical cambium produces epidermal cells.
