The consequences of the death of Byzantium.

The death of the Byzantine Empire had significant consequences for the further development of relations between East and West.

First, it was a victory for the East. The Seljuk Turks were able to defeat the once mighty empire, which was located on the border of the West and the East;

Secondly, it was the victory of Muslims over Christians. As a result, the center of Orthodoxy was transferred to the Russian lands. Still, the fall of Byzantium played into the hands of the Vatican;

Thirdly, the Ottoman Empire approached Europe significantly. Now she could threaten not only the southern, but also the central part of Europe.
