The cubs of which animal, depending on the time of their birth, are called spikelets, nastoviks, leaflets.

These are hares. On the territory of Russia, brown hares (Latin Lepus europaeus) and white hares Lepus (Latin Lepus timidus) are more common than others.

Hare cubs appear three times a year. At the very end of March, when the air temperature fluctuates around zero, the snow either melts in the sun or freezes again. Because of this, a strong ice crust forms on the surface of the snow – crust. That’s when the first rabbits of this year are born – nastoviki, there are usually no more than three of them. At the end of June, when the cereals are already heading, the hare brings a large brood – five or six babies, spike hares. And the last litter – in the fall, to the sound of September leaf fall. Deciduous hares need to get stronger quickly, otherwise they will die with the onset of cold weather.
