The daily feed rate for an adult pigeon includes a grain mixture, in which 40% wheat, the same amount of millet and 20% legumes. It is necessary to find the mass of the grain mixture in the daily feed if it contains 10 g more millet than legumes.

To solve this problem, we introduce a conditional variable “X”, through which we denote the required rate of daily food for an adult pigeon.

The first step is to determine the percentage of 10 grams.

As a result, we get that 10 grams is equal to 40% – 20% = 20%.

Then, based on the data of the problem, we will compose the following proportion: 20% relate to 10 grams, as 100% relate to X grams.

Then, based on this proportion, we will make the following equation: X x 20 = 10 x 100.

Solving this equation, we get X equal to 50 grams.

Answer: 50 grams.
