The distance between the two cities is 720 km / h. At the same time, a fast train with a speed of 80 km / h and a passenger train with a speed of 60 km / h came out towards each other. What is the distance between them in 2 hours?
1. We calculate how many kilometers the train traveling at a speed of 80 km / h will move away from the departure station:
80 x 2 = 160 km.
2. We calculate the length of the path traveled by the oncoming train:
60 x 2 = 120 km.
3. We find the distance between trains 2 hours after their departure from the starting stations:
720 – (160 + 120) = 440 kilometers.
