The synthesis of organic substances from inorganic ones by using the energy of the sun is a process of photosynthesis. This process on our planet became possible due to the appearance of a special green substance – chlorophyll. Currently, chlorophyll is present in the cells of all plants. It is located in chloroplasts, where it is contained in special sacs – thylakoids. In addition to plants, chlorophyll is found in cyanobacterial cells, its molecules are located on special photosynthetic membranes, because there are no chloroplasts.
