The emergence of the Republic of Rome.

The Roman Republic emerged on the world stage after Tarquinius the Proud was expelled from Rome in 509 BC. e. after his son Sextus dishonored the noble Lucretia. The entire family of the king was expelled from the city and he turned to the Etruscans for help. In 496 BC. e. a battle took place near Lake Regulus, where the Romans took over. The sons of Tarquinius died, and the former king himself fled to the Greek city of Kuma, where he died in 495 BC. e. The Roman Republic lasted until 27 BC. e. and was abolished during the reign of Octavian Augustus.
