The farmers sowed an 80m2 field as follows: barley – 45% of the entire field, and rye 15m2. What is the area of the field that has not been sown?

1) Let us find out what area of the field was sown with barley, if we know that barley makes up 45% of the total area of the field, and the entire area of the field is 80 m².

80 – 100%;

X – 45%;

X = 45 * 80/100;

X = 36 m².

2) We find out what area was sown, if it is known that rye is 15 m², and we learned that the area of barley was 36 m².

35 + 15 = 51 m².

3) Determine what area is occupied by the empty space, if we learned that in total 51 m2 is sown, and the whole area is 80 m2.

80 – 51 = 29 m².

Answer: 29 m² was not sown.
