The foundation can withstand a pressure of 20 kPa. Is it possible to put a machine on it if its weight is 300 kg and the area of one of the four supports is 50 cm2

In order for the presented foundation to be able to withstand the pressure from the machine, the inequality must be fulfilled: Pf> Pc; Pf> Ft / S; Pf> m * g / (S1 * n).

Constants and variables: Pf – maximum pressure on the foundation (Pf = 20 kPa = 20 * 10 ^ 3 Pa); m is the mass of the machine (m = 300 kg); g – acceleration due to gravity (g ≈ 10 m / s2); S1 – average support area (S1 = 50 cm2 = 50 * 10 ^ -4 m2); n – the number of supports at the machine (n = 4 pcs).

Calculation: Pf> m * g / (S1 * n).

20 * 103> 300 * 10 / (50 * 10-4 * 4).

20 * 10 ^ 3> 150 * 10 ^ 3 (wrong).

Answer: This machine cannot be installed on the foundation.
