The goals of the USSR’s entry into the war with Japan

Main reasons: – The acceleration of the end of World War II, it happened on September 2, 1945 on board the battleship Missouri (now it is a museum ship), when the act of surrender of Japan was signed. The Soviet army fought in August 1945 with the Kwantung army. – Liberation of the peoples of Korea, Indochina and China. It was possible to take part of China under Soviet influence (the PRC only since 1949) and Korea north of the 38th parallel (the DPRK since 1948). – Strengthening the security of the eastern borders, it turned out to annex the Kuril Islands and make the Sea of Okhotsk actually internal to the USSR.
