| The graph of the linear function is parallel to the straight line y = 2x-6 and passes through the point C (3; 2). Specify this function with a formula.
1. The equation of a straight line is given as follows: y = ax + b.
2. If the graph of the linear function is parallel to the straight line y = 2x – 6, then in the new function a = 2.
3. From condition C (3; 2), hence x = 3, y = 2.
4. Substitute. We get: 2 = 3a + b, a = 2, so 2 = 3 * 2 + b; 2 = 6 + b; b = -4.
5. The resulting equation: y = 2x – 4.
Answer: y = 2x – 4.
