| Since the height in an isosceles triangle is perpendicular to the base, the sine of the angle a between the height and the side will be equal to:
sin (a) = 40: 80 = 1/2.
Therefore, the angle a is equal to: 30 degrees. Since the height is also a bisector, the apex angle is:
30 + 30 = 60.
Since in an isosceles triangle, the angles at the base are equal to each other:
(180 – 60) / 2 = 60.
