| The height of a rectangular trapezoid with an area of 50 cm2 and a perimeter of 32 cm is 5 cm. Find the sides of the trapezoid.
Let’s use the formula for the area of a trapezoid.
Savsd = 50 = (BC + AD) * CH / 2.
(BC + AD) = 2 * 50/5 = 20 cm.
The perimeter of the trapezoid is:
(BC + AD) + (AB + CD) = 32 cm.
20 + (AB + CD) = 32.
(AB + CD) = 32 – 20 = 12 cm.
Since AB = CH = 5 cm, then CD = 12 – 5 = 7 cm.
Answer: The sides of the trapezoid are 5 cm and 7 cm.
