The homozygous plants were crossed with round, green fruits. How to designate a homozygous plant in a problem?

First, you need to enter the letter designations of the genes that determine the development of the considered traits in the plant.

If the trait belongs to the category of dominant, then the gene that determines it will be indicated by a capital (capital) letter. If the trait is recessive, then the gene is indicated by a lowercase (small) letter. As a rule, any arbitrary letters of the Latin alphabet are used.

Suppose that the round shape of the fruit in the plant in question is a dominant feature, then the gene that determines this shape of the fruit will be indicated by a capital letter C. In this case, the gene for a recessive form of the fruit will be designated by a lowercase letter c.

Let’s say the green color of the fruit of a plant is a recessive trait. Let’s designate it with a lowercase letter h, then the dominant color of the fruit will be designated as H.

A plant homozygous for both traits, according to the introduced designations and assumptions, will have the CСhh genotype.

If both traits are dominant, then the dihomozygous plant has a genotype written as CCHH. If both traits are recessive – cshh.
