The ideal form of government of the Slavophiles and Westernizers.

Slavophiles and Westernizers appeared in Russia in the 40s of the 19th century. Both Slavophiles and Westernizers were patriots, but their ideas about government differed.

The common thing was that they were sharply opposed to speaking out about serfdom.

Slavophiles looked at Russia as original, which developed along its own path, different from Asia and the West. Were democrats for the spiritual freedom of the individual.

Westerners considered Russia backward with its system and way of government. They were ardent admirers of Peter the Great, who was oriented toward the West in his reign.

Slavophiles and Westernizers entered the camp of liberalism.
