The largest ocean?

The Pacific has the largest area of the four oceans. This ocean holds more water than the other three combined, and takes up more land than the entire landmass of the planet. This ocean also holds a world depth record, since the deepest depression of the planet – the Mariana – is located in its west. This ocean became known to Europeans only at the beginning of the sixteenth century, after the Spaniards began to study the territory of America.
