1) Find the hypotenuse by the Pythagorean theorem:
c = √ (a ^ 2 + b ^ 2) = √ (13 ^ 2+ 24 ^ 2) = √ 745 = 27 (approximately)
2) Find the area of a right-angled triangle using the formula:
S = 1/2 * a * b = 1/2 * 13 * 24 = 156 cm2
Answer: √745 cm (27); 156 cm2.
