The length and width of one of the rooms of the country house is 6 m and 5 m
The length and width of one of the rooms of the country house is 6 m and 5 m, and the other is 5 m and 4 m. Find out how many grams of varnish are consumed per 1 m2 of floor, and calculate how much varnish is required to cover the floor in these rooms?
1) Find the area of the first room. To do this, multiply the length by the width of the room:
6 * 5 = 30 (sq. M);
2) Find the area of the second room:
5 * 4 = 20 (sq. M);
3) Find the area of two rooms of the country house, for this we add the areas of the first and second rooms:
30 + 20 = 50 (sq. M);
4) Let’s assume that for 1 sq. m. floor is consumed 250 g of varnish. Then, in order to find how much varnish is required to cover the floor in two rooms, we multiply the total area of these two rooms by the varnish consumption per 1 sq. m. Then:
50 * 250 = 12,500 (g);
5) Let’s express the mass of varnish in kilograms.
1 kg = 1000 g;
12,500 g = 12.5 kg;
