The length and width of one of the rooms of the country house is 6m and 5m, and the other is 5m and 4m. Find out how many grams of varnish are consumed per 1 m2 of floor (100g per 1 m2 of varnish in 3 layers according to the table), and calculate how much varnish is required, to cover the floor in these rooms.
The varnish consumption is usually indicated in relation to 1 m² of surface area. Therefore, we will calculate the area of the rooms as the area of two rectangles. Then we add the obtained values and find out the entire area for coloring. So:
1) 6 * 5 = 30 m² is the area of the first room.
2) 5 * 4 = 20 m² – the area is different.
3) 30 + 20 = 50 m² – the area of both rooms.
Let’s multiply the area value by the varnish consumption. Let’s find out its required value:
4) 50 * 100 = 5000 grams or 5 kg
Answer: for two rooms you need 5 kg of varnish.
