The length of a broken line consisting of three links is 15 cm. The length of one link is 4 cm. Find the lengths of the other two links if one of them is 1 cm shorter than the other.

We take the length of the second link for x, then
x + 1 length of the third link,
Since the length of the first link is 4 cm by condition, and the length of the broken line is equal to the sum of the links and is equal to 15, we get the equation:
4 + x + (x + 1) = 15
2 * x + 5 = 15
2 * x = 10
x = 5
Hence, the length of the second link is equal to:
5 + 1 = 6 cm.
