The length of all edges of a parallelepiped is determined by the formula:
L = 4a + 4b + 4c. Provided that it is 96 cm, and its two measurements are 7 and 12 cm, we determine the value of the unknown side by composing the equation:
4a + 4 * 7 + 4 * 12 = 96,
4a + 28 + 48 = 96. Leave the variable on the left side, and transfer the numbers to the right, changing the sign in front of them to the opposite:
4a = 96 – 28 – 48 = 20,
a = 20: 4 = 5.
Hence the third side = 5 cm.
