The length of one side of the triangle is 9 cm and the length of the other side is 6 cm. Estimate the length of the third side of the triangle.

The solution of the problem:
The third side of the triangle must be less than the sum of the first and second sides of the triangle, however, more than the difference between the first and second sides.
1) Find the sum of the first and second sides of the triangle: 9 + 6 = 15 (cm).
2) Find the difference between the first and second sides of the triangle: 9 – 6 = 3 (cm).
We conclude that the length of the third side of the triangle is more than 3 cm, but less than 15 cm, therefore, the side can take any value within these numbers.
