The length of the lateral side of an isosceles triangle is 9 cm and is 3/11 of the perimeter of the triangle. What part of the perimeter is the length of the base.

Solution:
In an isosceles triangle, the sides are equal, so if the length of one side is 3/11 of the length of the perimeter, then the two sides are 3/11 + 3/11 = 6/11 of the length of the perimeter.
We know that the perimeter is the sum of the lengths of all sides, and in parts it is 11/11. Thus, if the two sides of a triangle are 6/11 of the length of the perimeter, then the third side (base) is 11/11 – 6/11 = 5/11.
Answer: 5/11.
