The length of the rectangle is 10 cm and the width is 2 cm less. Find the perimeter and area of the rectangle. Find the area of a square that has the same perimeter.
1. Find the width of the rectangle.
10 – 2 = 8 centimeters.
2. Let’s calculate it a) perimeter, b) area.
a) (10 + 8) * 2 = 36 centimeters.
b) 10 * 8 = 80 cm².
3. Find out the size of the side of the square, the perimeter of which is 36 centimeters.
36/4 = 9 centimeters.
4. Let’s define its area.
9 * 9 = 81 cm².
Answer: The perimeter of the rectangle is 36 centimeters, the area is 80 square centimeters.
The area of the square is 81 square centimeters.
