| Find the area of the rectangle with the data by the condition parameters:
S1 = a1 * b1 = 15 * 8 = 120 (m²).
After enlarging, the width of the rectangle became:
b2 = b1 + 6 = 14 (m).
Find the area after increasing the width:
S2 = a1 * b2 = 15 * 14 = 210 (m²).
Let’s make a proportion and find how many percent of the original area is the new area
120 m² – 100%
210 m² – x%
x = 210 * 100/120 = 21000/120 = 175%
The area has increased by:
175% – 100% = 75%.
Answer: the area of the rectangle has increased by 75%.
