The length of the rectangle is 18 cm. The length of the side of the square is 12 cm. Find the perimeter of these figures if they have the same area.

Determine the area of the square – raise the length of its side to the second power:
122 = 144 cm2
By the condition of the problem, we know that the area of a square is equal to the area of a rectangle. Therefore, by dividing the area of the square by the length of the rectangle, we can determine the width of the rectangle:
144: 18 = 8 cm
