The length of the rectangle is 2dm 4 cm, and the width is 3 times less. Find the side of the square if its perimeter is equal to the perimeter of this rectangle.

1) Find the width of the rectangle, provided that it is 3 times less than its length, equal to 2 dm 4 cm = 24 cm (since 1 dm = 10 cm):

24: 3 = 8 cm.

2) The perimeter of the rectangle is determined by the formula:

P = 2 * a + 2 * b = 2 * 24 + 2 * 8 = 48 + 16 = 64 cm.

3) The sum of all sides of the square is 64 cm, we express the side from the formula for its perimeter and find its length:

If P square = 4a, therefore:

a = P: 4 = 64: 4 = 16 cm.
