| The length of the rectangle is 370 cm, it is 90 cm larger than the width. Find the area of the rectangle and express it in square decimeters.
Given:
length – 370 cm;
width – 90 cm less than length;
S =? dm².
Let’s calculate the width, it is known that the length is 90 cm greater than the width:
1) 370 – 90 = 280 (cm)
According to the condition of the problem, we need to find the area and express it in square decimeters. Therefore: 370 cm = 37 dm; 280 cm = 28 in.
A rectangle is a quadrilateral in which opposite sides are parallel and equal to pairs. The area of a rectangle is equal to the product of its sides and is calculated by the formula: S = a * b.
2) S = 37 * 28 = 1036 (dm²).
Answer: 1036 dm² is the area of a rectangle.
