| The area of the rectangle is calculated by the formula:
S = a * b.
Let us find this value, provided that the width of such a figure is 2 cm less than its length, equal to 6 cm:
S = 6 * (6 – 2). According to the order of performing mathematical operations, first of all we find the values in brackets:
S = 6 * 4 = 24 cm².
The perimeter is determined by the formula:
P = 2a + 2b. Substitute the dimensions of the rectangle:
P = 2 * 6 + 2 * 4 = 12 + 8 = 20 cm.
