February 10, 2021 | education
| 1. Suppose the width of the rectangle is x cm.
2. Since from the condition of the problem we know that the length of the rectangle is 8 times greater than its width, therefore it is equal to x * 8 cm.
3. And now we write down the equation and calculate what the width of the rectangle is if its perimeter is 90 cm.
2 * (x + 8 * x) = 90;
2 * 9 * x = 90;
18 * x = 90;
x = 90/18;
x = 5 cm.
4. Now let’s find out what the length of the rectangle is.
8 * 5 = 40 cm.
5. Now let’s calculate the area of the rectangle.
40 * 5 = 200 cm ^ 2.
