The length of the rectangle is 9cm and the width is 5cm less. Find the area and perimeter of the rectangle.

The area of the rectangle is calculated by the formula:

S = a * b.

Let’s find this value, for such a figure, the length of which is 9 cm, and the width is 5 cm less:

S = 9 * (9 – 5). According to the order of performing mathematical operations, first of all we find the values in brackets:

S = 9 * 4 = 36 cm².

The sum of all sides of the rectangle is determined by the formula:

P = 2a + 2b = 2 * 9 + 2 * 4 = 18 + 8 = 26 cm.
