The length of the rectangular parallelepiped is 15cm, it is 3 times more than the width, and the height is 3cm more than the width. Find its surface area

1) Find the value of the width of the rectangular parallelepiped.

Since we know that the length is 3 times longer, we get:

15/3 = 5 cm.

2) Determine the value of the height of the figure.

To do this, add a difference to the width value, namely 3 cm.

3 + 3 = 6 cm.

3) Find the area of the parallelepiped.

For this we use the following formula:

S = 2 * (a * b + b * c + a * c),
Where:

S – area;

a – figure length;

b – the width of the figure;

c – the height of the figure.

We get:

S = 2 * (15 * 3 + 3 * 6 + 15 * 6) = 2 * (45 + 18 + 90) = 153 cm2.

Answer: 153 cm2.
