The length of the rectangular parallelepiped is 5dm, the width is 8cm less than the length, and the height is 5/7

The length of the rectangular parallelepiped is 5dm, the width is 8cm less than the length, and the height is 5/7 of the width. Find the volume and surface area of this rectangular parallelepiped.

Determine the width of the rectangular parallelepiped, provided that it is 8 cm less than its length, equal to 5 dm:
b = 50 – 8 = 42 cm (since 5 dm = 50 cm).

Height = 5/7 length and is:
c = 42: 7 * 5 = 30 cm.

The volume of such a figure is calculated by the formula:
V = a * b * c = 50 * 42 * 30 = 63000 cm³ = 63 dm³.

Surface area corresponds to:
S = 2 * (ab + bc + ac) = 2 * (5 * 4.2 + 4.2 * 3 + 5 * 3) = 2 * (21 + 12.6 + 15) = 2 * 48.6 = 97.2 dm².
