The width of the section is denoted by x. Then the length of the rectangular section is (7/5) x. From the condition of the problem it is known that the width is less than the length by 13 m.We make the equation (7/5) x – x = 13 m, whence we find (2/5) x = 13 m, x = 32.5 m. The length of the rectangular section is 13 m is greater and equal to 32.5 m + 13 m = 45.5 m.
The area of a rectangular area is equal to the product of the sides. S = 32.5m * 45.5m = 1478.75 square meters.
