The length of the segment AB is 76cm. Point C was marked on it so that the length of the segment CB is 3 dm 4 cm. What is the length of the segment AC?
To solve the problem, in order to have a visual representation, complete a schematic drawing: build a segment AB, mark point C on it and indicate all the numerical data in the drawing
AB = 76 cm; CB = 3 dm 4 cm = 34 cm, point C is located between the ends of the segment AB, that is, segment AB consists of segments AC and CB.
AB = AC + CB; AC = AB – CB; AC = 76 – 34 = 42 cm.
Answer: AC = 42 cm.
