The length, width and height of the hall are 5: 3: 1. The length is 8 m greater than the width. Find the volume (m3) of the hall.

| Let’s make an equation and determine the length and width of the hall, if the first dimension is 8 m larger:
5x – 3x = 8.
2x = 8. The second factor is the quotient of the first one:
x = 8: 2 = 4.
Therefore, width = 4 * 3 = 12 m, and length = 4 * 5 = 20 m.
The height is 4 * 1 = 4 m.
The volume of a rectangular parallelepiped is calculated by the formula:
V = a * b * c = 20 * 12 * 4 = 960 m².
