| The lengths of the sides of the rectangle ABCD are equal to 20 and 36 cm. On the large sides BC and AD, their midpoints are marked with points E and F, respectively. Find the area of the quadrilateral AECF.
By the problem statement, a rectangle ABCD is given.
It is known that the length and width of this rectangle are 36 and 20 centimeters, respectively.
Construct a rectangle and mark on its large sides (BC and AD) points E and F, see the figure.
We got the AECF parallelogram.
Let’s calculate the area of this parallelogram:
S = a * h, where a is EC and h is EF.
EС = BC / 2 = 36/2 = 18 cm.
EF = AB = 20 cm.
S = 18 * 20 = 360 cm².
Answer: The area of the AECF quadrilateral is 360 cm².
