The life of a French Peasant in the 18th century.

In the 18th century, there was an increase in the exploitation of the peasants in France. Feudal lords seize peasant lands. There is a threefold increase in taxes. The duties for repairing and building roads were returned again. Along with this, the peasants were not allowed to kill rabbits and forbidden to trample the sown fields during the hunt, which led to the destruction of the harvest, hunger and mortality flourished. Mass actions of peasants began against the existing order. People demanded a reduction in taxes and bread prices. The situation was critical, about 90% of the country’s population was in poverty.
