The lifting capacity of the elevator is 3 tons. How many sheets of iron can be loaded

The lifting capacity of the elevator is 3 tons. How many sheets of iron can be loaded into the elevator if the length of each sheet is 3 m, width 60 cm, thickness 4 mm?

We calculate the weight of one sheet by the formula:
m = ρ * V, where ρ is the density of iron (ρ = 7870 kg / m³), V is the volume of one sheet (V = a * b * c, where a is the length of the sheet (a = 3 m), b is the width of the sheet (b = 60 cm = 0.6 m), c – sheet thickness (c = 4 m = 0.004 m)).
m = ρ * V = ρ * a * b * c = 7870 * 3 * 0.6 * 0.004 = 56.664 kg.
Number of sheets:
N = M / m, where M is the lifting capacity of the elevator (M = 3 t = 3000 kg).
N = M / m = 3000 / 56.664 = 52.94 pcs.
Answer: A maximum of 52 sheets of iron can be loaded into the elevator.
