Narodism, like Marxism, are “products” of the period of the second half of the 19th century in the Russian Empire. They offered an alternative vision of the development of the state, but their components were different. It was them that they put in the foreground, organized visits to the people in order to join them and find their previously lost roots. Marxists, however, saw in the people, especially in the proletariat, on which they relied, only a means and a resource of the struggle for power.
