The main differences of the ancient Greek civilization.

Ancient Greek civilization became the prototype of modern society. A distinctive feature was:

1. Republican form of government. There was no crown in ancient Greece. Governors were elected from among worthy citizens by voting.

2. Freedom of citizens, the right to choose and vote. Every citizen who disagreed with the regime could express his displeasure, and no one could punish him. Even in modern democracies, one can not freely express one’s protest everywhere.

3. Culture and religion. Almost all citizens knew how to read and write, children attended school regardless of the condition of their parents. The religion and culture of the ancient Greeks are closely related.
